Hi all, I'm planning on going on my first track day 6th May at Rockingham. I was wondering what sort of single day track day insurance I should be paying. I have sent of a few forms for quotes. I have a 2010 Subaru WRX STI worth 22k. How much should the insurance be? I realise there are many other factors that will determine the cost.

Any advice on who to use would also be welcome!

Cheers all.

It's normally about 10 per 1000 cover, plus 10% excess.

You can get bodywork only, mechanical only, or both, and you don't have to cover the whole value of the car, buy your maximum payout will then be limited.

For example (and may not apply to any policies you're considering) - the damage must be as a result of an impact accident, so if your engine/transmission goes pop because you're thrashing its pants off, then you won't get anything. But if you crash and it goes up in flames it will be covered.

1% of the value insured is about right, subject to a minimum that I can't remember (maybe 100). Competition Car Insurance includes five track days in their road policies (although I've always forgotten to tell them about the track days I've done so won't renew the track cover this year).

Normally the premium is c1% of vehicle value and the excess is c10%.
