Just replaced front wheel hubs and refitted existing brake disks - I thought i would measure the run out, because I get quite a severe steering wobble when braking (checked steering damper) - one reads 10' thou and the other reads 15 thou - A bit of googling suggests the tolerance is 6 thou - so in theory mine are well over.
Would ~10 thou disk warpage cause steering shake when braking?

Update - fitted new disks (all round) run out now about 5 thou, so within tolerance just. Brake wobble now gone.
Spent quite a hefty wack on it this week:
£400 two new front hub assemblies
£350 all 4 wheels refurbished back to as-new
£110 new disks and pads all round
Result is the car drives in a straight line now, doesn't make any noises when turning and brakes straight. And looks like a new car now, because the wheels, tyres and disks are new.

Quite an interesting one with the hubs. On full lock you could hear a slight rumbling sound. I actualy thought the CV's had gone. Once I removed the hubs they didn't have any noticeble play in them, but they didn't turn smoothly either. So I bit the bullet and replaced them both. This seems to have also improved its tendancy to drift to the left as well.
