Throttle cable routing

Does anyone as pictures or link to a write up to change Throttle cable from center tunnel to driver side? I'll be upgrading mine next week but I am not clear as to how I should run it.

Just run it through the wheel arch like the above pic, then down through the sill and into the side pod, bring it up through the side pod above the battery and over the engine.

Routing the throttle cable outside, around the wheel like that doesn't seem like the best way to go. If some debris gets kicked up you could end up stuck by the side of the road. If the cable is long enough, it seems like you can just run the cable behind that panel in back of the wheel, down into the door sill area.

Plus I'm fairly sure Andygtt's car was routed like that and his tyre caught it when reversing causing the car to sit on the rev limiter until he could shut it off!

Did you route yours as described above? are there any pics of the alternative route?

As far as i am aware the reason it is like this is because you can not have 90 deg bends on the cable which eliminates an internal route to get to the sill, this routing is how it is done from factory, no problem with road debris after 8 years of motoring. The wheel should not catch, you can see on the pic where the tyre rubs on the splash guard the touching point is much higher, the wheel would have to drop 8 inches to catch on full lock, Andy had exceptional circumstances full lock while dropping off a kerb.

Edit to say..that rubbing on the above pic is also with 235 tyres.. 225 do not rub at all on full lock..

This is how it was done from factory ..i havn't messed with the routing...where it cuts across diagonally is fine, the tyre does not come close, the routing has been like this for 8 years without a problem.

I had mine re-routed and the front wheel did catch on the cable. But this was down to a steering lock issue which has now been fixed.

yep thats exactly what happened on mine and it was lower than the one in that pic... I was however running camber but fact is a bit of debris could also cause full throttle.

I re-routed mine to this possition because its were it goes on later models and the front turbo cooks it in the old possition... I am however going to do something different as it is exposed here as I proved

I would really like to do this re-routing. does anyone have the length of cable you need in order to re-route it.

exactly same cable as yours

I have a spare, but its a little frazzled and sticks were it goes past the wheel lol
