Interesting that they claim to have tested one with the sports exhaust. Will lookforward to reading this on the iPad app when the final article is published.

God knows why they didn't fit the electronic handbrake buttons in the centre console.

It does look excellent.

I'm having trouble deciding between this and a used R8 though, as at £56.5k to the spec I'd be after (assuming PSE is circa £1500) it puts it well into used R8 - and many other nice things - territory.

Any opinions?

I think of car purchase so that I can say even after 20 years " that is a beautiful car". Both R8 and 981 surely fit the concept. However R8 is a supercar to me and boxster is not. Of course R8 eats lot of gasoline but new 981 will loose value much faster than used R8. In the end every car will consume every drop you pour to the tank :=) I personally like hardtops more, so out of those two I would go for R8. (However I would take new cayman S or R over R8) Also if you are fan of flappy paddle gearboxes, there is no better choice than porsche PDK.(R8 automated manual is quite bad actually)

R8 looks odd to my eyes .. too wide

I don't think it is aging well at all

in 20 years time, it will be very dated.

An Audi is an Audi and a Porsche is a Porsche.

One of the finest looking modern porsches ever made to look utterly hideous with a bland paint job, awful black wheels and a wide angle lens. Just my opinion of course.

I think this new Boxster looks superb.
Its the first Boxster I would actually buy, if I didn't need the 911's back seats.

I've owned an R8, a Boxster and a Boxster S over the last few years. All fabulous driving machines. At end of the day you buy what's right for you.

I Love it, the only thing stoping me buying one is the new Cayman is going to look even better.

Not convinced on the rear of that dev Cayman either, a bit hatchback-like is a good summary.

That said, should probably wait to reserve judgement.

I'm liking the Boxster in Silver+Red Interior the most so far.

That cayman must not be in the final trim. I mean it just looks poor compared to new boxster or even old cayman. Old doors and air intakes is the biggest problem with that black car.
