Brake vibration
Discussion
Last autumn I took the Mazda 6 to my local garage to have the brakes looked at as they were vibratiig when used at 60+ miles an hour. They diagnosed warped discs and replaced the fronts and pads. Unfortunately after another 3 months this new set was causing the same issue so they replaced them with new under warranty. All well and good but 1000 miles on the same is happening and the effect is getting worse. Does anyone know if the 6 is particularly sensitive to the quality of discs etc. I suspect they are not oem.
Thanks
Thanks

As I have said recently in another thread there is a strong case to be made for buying OEM for safety-critical parts, including brakes.Generally speaking brake discs do not warp. The usual cause of vibration is pad material deposited on the disc surface.

Not necessarily OEM (which are often a bit rubbish), but I'd certainly be wary of using bits from a completely unknown brand. Presumably braking components have to be type approved to be sold in the UK?Brake discs very rarely warp.. although you'll hear that they do and can. pad material deposited on the surface can happen but agian it's not often the cause. In the majority of cases brake vibration is caused by rust/corrotion between the hub face and the disc. If they didn't get the hub face perfectly clear of rust when fitting new discs then the vibration will re-occure.
As for OEM brake parts... The car makers don't make the brake components. People like TRW (lucas), Ferodo, Mintex, Apec do that. Justmake sure the garage are using one of the recognised OEM-quality suppliers.

This! All this bks about buying OEM, most car makers only make cars, not brake discs, oil filters, starter motors, alternators... The list goes on. I don't advocate buying el cheapo pattern parts of unknown origin, just that there are a load of fantastic manufacturers that supply the makers themselves who can supply parts cheaper then the genuiine OEM supplier.Had similar with the BM after a wobble set in at 32k miles - Used Bosch disks twice AND replaced the brake reaction bushes - still wobbled. Finally went back to BMW disks and all good so far.
My slight worry is, why did it happen in the first place (BMW 335d disks are usually good for 50k miles)? But hopefully it was the brake reaction bushes (whatever they are!!)

Further to this, I have contacted the garage and explained my concerns and they are going to look at the hubs this time before simply replacing the brakes again.
I have my suspicions that this may be the root of the issue since the wheel bearings were replaced last year and immediately after this I started having brake problems. Conclusion: I should have taken the car straight back to them as soon as I noticed.
