VW XL1 has been photographed sliding around on snow in Sweden. Who else is excited about this car? Light/rwd and great looking. I hope they sell a cheaper version. With more power (120bhp) maybe it could become an interesting competitor to the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86?

I like it! If it's fun to drive and they can get close to the claimed fuel economy figures I think it'll do well.

RWD, gullwing doors, ceramic brakes, magnesium wheels. Sounds good to me.

I personally find it a lot less interesting in the non-photoshopped version:

^ reminds me of old days of Citroen, I think it's quite cool with those wheel covers.

So how do you change the rear tyres, does it have the same sort of hydrolics that will lift the up to change them?
I haven't seen the spec, what engine power has it got?

Or it's just a cover you can pop off?

Well it has a petrol cap so that's a good start.

From here:

"The XL1 has been engineered to return 235-mpg. Top speed will apparently be limited to 74.6 mph, reported 0 to 50 mph time of 32 seconds"

That will only be good for the hypermilers then!

ETA: it would appear those figures are only relevant to the previous concept, this is supposed to go from 0 to 60 in 11.6s...

Covers come off. Probably a couple of Dzeus fasteners on each side.

Will be interesting to see how this is going to be marketed. 18month old one may make a good buy!

Looks like the head of an Alien. Sigourney Weaver's getting twitchy somewhere.
