Weekend in Burgundy

Morning all,

I was planning on visiting Burgundy (staying in Beaune) for Easter weekend and wondered if anyone had any good recommendations to pass on.

I've read a few articles that suggest it's best to go with an organised tour rather than organising visits yourself. If so, I'm happy to be driven around in a very small group but does anyone have any specific tours that they'd recommend? The costs seem to be around €250-€300 per person, which is fine if the quality is high.

I'm slightly concerned that the vineyards, restaurants, shops etc might be closed over Easter but can't find much to suggest that would definitely be the case. Am I worrying unnecessarily? I've done similar trips over Easter in Chianti and Spain and have found most things are closed on Easter Sunday but otherwise it seems to be business as normal - hopefully Burgundy would be the same.

I'm pretty sure most everything in town will be open (producers restaurants etc)and you should be able to rent a bicycle to get you to any nearby producers you want to visit - not sure what upside of EUR 300 tours - you could always line a few visits up and rent a local taxi for a few hours if cycling doesn't appeal

That's really helpful, thank you very much! I've been doing some scouting around and almost all escorted tours are around 200-300 euros but I'm a bit concerned that they cater more for Americans wanting to pack lots in on a tour of Europe (lots of the reviews of these tours seem to come from America but maybe they just write the most Gushing reviews!).
