What Ford differential is the correct one for an S? Nick has decided he wants one, so needs to know which one to track down. Also, will modding of the mounts be needed to fit it?

Granada Cosworth pre bug eye should fit.. This is 7.5" with 100mm output shafts.. I have one needs a rebuild if its of interest.. Then at least you have a known quantity rather than some unknown eBay unit.. Oh like this one turned out to be. I got < 1 year from it before the bearings got noisy.

bolts in place of open 7.5" no changes required on an s3.

I have now rebuilt my original open diff with a quaiffe atb hence the spare granada item.

However he does it imho this is the 2nd best S mod ever and makes a huge difference to the car. 1st being mx5 mirrors.

thanks Damian

Is it rude to ask how much it cost to get the quaif unit built ?

the parts prices can be found on the web, and they do a cheaper version of the above without new drive flanges at around £560 I believe.. Though I went for the full monte.. Then just over £100 to fit in my case and a little extra to refurb the case its self. Ie blast and paint.

hope that helps.. Drop quaife an email they are very helpful.

its hard to say as I am not 100% sure of the problem.. Could just be bearings could be more.. The lsd still does its job though.. Probably best to contact gearboxman or your local transmission specialist for a quote..

thanks

All I can find with search is a load of threads from people asking if their car has an LSD, and how to identify it? Nothing about which type to retrofit. Also, what's a viscous diff exactly?

lols can't believe you say that, this has made a huge difference to my car.. But each to there own I guess.. If you pootle about you prob won't notice.. But try to pull out of junction or hairpin quickly then you certainly will..

Damian S3 glad to have an LSD..
