Route planning software that exports GPS files?

Can anyone recommend an on-line ‘cycle friendly’ route planning software that will spit out a GPS file for upload to my Garmin Dakota?

I am planning a ride from Binfield (Thames Valley) to Burton Bradstock in Dorest next Saturday, it will be circa 120 miles and I will be riding solo. I have planned a route that runs mainly parallel to the major A roads (A30/A31/A35) but uses mainly small A, B or uncategorised roads which should be safer (really don’t fancy the A30, A31 or A35 for more than a few hundred yards at a time)!

Question is, does anyone know if there is any software out there where I can plan the route at a detail level and spits out a GPS file that can be uploaded to my garmin Dakota? I really don’t fancy reading a map/directions on the way down there, especially if its raining!!

assuming your Dakota works like my 305, the site will be able to upload the route directly onto the device

i can vouch for cycle streets 100%. i used it for the first time today to plan a ride from marlow to dartmoor. it planned a 'balanced route' which is mainly quiet back lanes. i then clicked on the 'gps device export (gpx) option which saved it as a gpx file... then go to http://www.takitwithme.com/gpx.html and follow the incredibly simple instructions. it's so easy, even i could do it...

data is now in my garmin edge and i can get on with my life.
