No'1 is my favourite. Very thought provoking

Excellent pics as usual. Not at all what I expected....thought it would be of all the action. The close ups tell a whole different story.

Very nice Bistomeister! I like the monochrome and the adventurous cropping which turns a horse into a piece of sculpture. 1,3 and 6 for me.

Nice bit of plaiting.
Takes practice, but when it is right it looks good!

I used to look after an Arab Stallion called Indian Magic.

Thanks guys! I guess its good that there seems to be something for everyone here. It can be quite annoying not having a long lens: I couldnt get any action and I missed half the shots i wanted because I ran out of zoom. I prefer shots that try to capture a bit of the atmosphere to the action ones at present anyway. My favourites are the 1 3 and 8.

Hurrah - I got 2 out of 3!
Judging by the noticeably shallow DOF I thought you were using a fairly long lens anyway?

The lens is a zeiss 38-190 mm f2.0-2.4
I was at the longer end of the spectrum for most of them. I love my liddle camera. Best 300 odd quid ive ever spent.

Blimey!, not what i was expecting at all but very good!
I did find myself wishing the background had just a touch of burgundy in it though but apart from that, excellent as usual.

That's an interesting lens - it's not on an SLR is it?

My camera isnt strictly speaking an SLR, no. Its a sony 717 prosumer camera. Although it does have a TTL viewfinder which rather than using mirrors etc has a v. high res tiny lcd screen in the viewfinder. You cant change the lens and that zeiss is the one it comes with. You can get some screw in wide / telephoto converters but I havent got them.

The camera cost me 340 quid. I cant think of anything that produces better results for the money (happarently tis also better quality than their new 828).
