Wheeler Dealers Season
Discussion
It was good to see The Ladz back last night for a new series in what is probably the most watchable car show on TV, some thoughts/feedback:
Plus points:
- great to see such a nice car being sourced and restored
- the usual 'no holds barred' approach to the oily stuff with Ed
- nice to see they've moved the workshop to a more urban (West London?) location
Minus points:
- I find it hard to believe a car in such good nick can be had for Euro 15K
- Are we to believe he drove it all the way back to the UK?
- Unlikley he's buy a car 'on spec' without speaking any of the lingo (they must have had a translator)
- is it me or are these cars getting better and better and the restorations needed less and less?
- Were travel costs included in the price calculations?
- How come they never factor in Ed's labour rates?
- How come they always grossly undervalue the car and sell to the first plonker that turns-up
Well that's my tuppence worth...

The discussion on his labour rates has been done to death in the past, but I'm sure in some previous trips abroad they did factor in flights, etc.
I think if they are ever going to turn a "profit" on the cars they buy, he either has to get better at being a "wheelah deelah" (like not offering a grand off immediately) or they have to take cars that don't need much work. I think it's pretty much accepted wisdom that it's better to buy a classic with all the restoration work already done to a high standard, because you'll *always* spend more putting it into a nice condition than you would pay for an A1 car.
