Hello Mates

I need to replace my gearbox silentblocks so I ordered some green ones.

But my T350 has black ones on it wich cause several problems :
- the diameter of the rod is 10mm whereas black ones are 8mm
- the green rubber is not high enough and the diameter is not big enough too

Anyway I think I can still use them by :
- Drill the existing hole in the chassis and in the gearbox from 8mm to 10mm
- Put bolts on the rods as on the picture (on the right)
Not much to do in facts...

My knowledge in mechanics is very limited so as I don’t want to cause any problem, should I buy the black ones or can I go with the green ones without any doubt ?
It’s not about the money but if I can save myself from buying the black ones...(I’m from France so it’s a little bit a pain in the ass if I have to re-order).

Thanks very much !!

Hi,

if you want, try to contact Marc Minne at MF cars in Belgium. He speaks French fluently and will tell you immediatly if it's possible or not and what the downsides are without trying to get you to buy something. ;-)

Try googling TVR Belgium or MF cars and give him a call.

Tom.

Well...in fact I'm already in contact with him and it's him who gave me the idea to keep the green ones
[By the way he said they resist to heat more than the black ones]
But I wanted to double check with you guys because I want to be sure.

One of the reason is that my garagist told me the green ones could touch the exhaust

I don't know what to do ...tumbleweed

I am sorry but that is as far as my knowledge goes (If I cannot find it on PH I call Marc) but to be honest when drilling is involved I would not try to do this myself.

Hi, don't think drilling is a problem but I would pack up with washers, think I understand what you are trying to do. These do mount on the chassis at 45 degrees from plumb and the chassis mount is slotted, as I recall, so should be easy to adjust up and down.
Where abouts in France are you?

Best of luck, J

Where did you get the green ones from? Did you try other part suppliers to get the correct "old" ones? I would try this first than drilling etc.

Yes, I know I should but I got those green ones from the french dealer who sold me the car
His supplier in UK should have the black ones but it will take forever to re-order them from him

I should try to find them myself but it's not easy

Marc Minne from belgium says it's OK but I wouldn't like have to drill and so on...
