Help - fish oil capsule stuck in nasopharynx!

This happened to my sister two days ago when trying to swallow her daily cod liver oil capsule and it got stuck between her nose and throat and it's still there!

Any suggestions on how to get it out? She's tried many things to get mucus flowing - hot curries, saline washes but so far nothing has shifted / melted the thing!

Is it definatley still there? Might she have just agrivated the area which has left the 'feeling' of it being stuck?

Lots of heavy duty snorting, like when you're hocking up flegm?

Health program on Radio 4 the other day said research on fish oil capsules showed that they are of no benefit whatsoever!

But yes, I'd sniff like I've found the last gram of coke on Earth. Try snorting through one nostril at a time by holding the other nostril down with a finger/thumb. Now get her to try it, you numpty, as you're not the one with the capsule stuck up your nose.

Oh, you meant she doesn't want to wait that long.

Just thinking aloud... if she waits and it eventually starts to break down, won't it slowly leak fish oil for weeks making everything smell and taste fishy until it finally drains?

Not sure I'm getting the logic here! She doesnt want to wait a couple of hours for it to be removed when she's suffered with it for 150ish hours already?

I'll hazard a guess not as i imagine the capsule material can only be broken down by stomach acid? As i say its a guess!

Go to gp and get referred to ent doctor (ear,nose,throat) most run daily emergency clinics and then they will remove with aid of endoscope.

Is this really in nasopharynx? Can't understand how it would get there.
