A colleague at work has just got a NOIP for doing 36 in a 30 on the exit sliproad of a motorway, somewhere up North.
Apparently, there are two rows of bushes lining the slip road, and guess what.......the Gatso was placed behind the last bush on one side of the road.
I take it this is one of the 15% of cameras that dont need to be in accident blackspots.
What justification can there be from a safety point of view can there be for locations such as this? ( revenue only IMHO )
Have any BiB attended any collisions that have taken place on motorway exit slip roads? What is your opinion of this?
Talk about more fuel to alienate motorists!!

Surely slip roads don't have a 30 mph limit - it's a slowing down and exiting road, from a 70, so you can't be expected to get to 30 mph before moving onto a slip road.

Yes, on the M621 one of the exits has a 30mph limit about 25 mtrs off the M-way.Can't remember the junction no. but it's very near to Leeds,I think it's for the A61.
The exit is a sharp LH bend quickly followed by a near 180 right hand bend.

Yeah i know the camera you mean on the M621. Its a forward facing truvelo. To be fair its not hidden, and there are big roadworks going on at the junction, which is why the camera is there i think.

Doesn't sound like the one near the MSF Peugoet garage? Is it the one heading north that crosses the carriageway???

Yes. Plenty. Usually rear end shunts.

Is this because drivers are braking hard for the cameras?

No, usually because they forget they've just been doing 70 (ish) and then have to stop for the roundabout... as does the guy behind.. and the guy behind... and the guy behind...

I found that the first time I went to Leeds. It was the first time I've had to emergency brake for a camera. the 30 sign is next to the camera. The camera is also a truvelo forward facer. Crapped my pants!

Seems to have moved. Its the A635 exit where the truvelo was but it seems to be missing today. The A61 I'll have to check another time
