Quick question - I've just been involved in an RTC, third party ran a red light and t-boned me. Off duty police inspector witnessed everything, stopped, handled everything, called the local BiB who turned up, booked the 3P for the red light offence, breathalysed us both (neg x 2) - in other words, cut & dried full 3P at fault.
Admiral are offering me a replacement car via Helphire. Ts & Cs are that the cost is covered by a separate policy which is f.o.c to me; in other words apart from a £15 "admin" fee which they say I have to pay, there is no cost risk to me.
Just checking that there aren't any hidden nasties which I need to be aware of? I know that this being PH there will be doom ^ gloom creeping out from somewhere regardless - but seriously, anything I need to know/do/be aware of?
Thanks.

I asked that, they said that there is an indemnity policy which is free to me which will cover this. Also, the RTC was caused by the 3P ruinning a red light, in front of an off-duty police inspector, who had him booked on the spot. Older gentleman fully insured with Aviva. 2 independent witnesses.

There will be.
Am I liable for any of the hire charges? As explained during the telephone call, we will, at no cost to you, supply you with a credit protection policy that protects you if vehicle hire costs are not recovered from the party at fault - the policy is being sent to you in the post.
As discussed, the cover is subject to terms and conditions, one of which includes a requirement for you to co-operate with us in the recovery of the vehicle hire charges from the responsible party or their insurers. If you fail to co-operate and we are subsequently unable to recover the charges you will be asked to pay them.
So yes.
And they are in fairly deep financial trouble, as well as being embroiled in a nasty fraud case (not their fraud, but they lost money because of it).
You don't pays yer money, you takes yer choice.
Ah well, full circle - after I spoke to Albany & Helphire, Aviva (the 3P insurer) called me and offered to take the matter on direct as they have already accepted liability. So, Aviva are now puttingme in an equivalent hire car from tomorrow, taking the car to a manufacturer-approved repairer, and it'll cost me not one bean - no silly admin fees, I don;t have to pay my excess out and claim it back, all seems good (as long as it works!).

Insurers are very keen to do this now, my sister got a letter from VW Insurance after someone hit her in a dealer courtesy car saying they'd pay all costs directly and pleading with her not to instruct an accident management company.
Admiral will be pissed since it means they won't get their cut, which is exactly what's wrong with the industry.
All seems good to me, as I said t the guy at Aviva, all I'm asking is for my car to be properly put back to where it was at 2pm today, and not to drive around in a no-hubcaps Micra for a fortnight. I've no injury, I won't be developing whiplash overnight, and if it means my premium might be 20p less next year, then I'm (relatively speaking) happy.
I will say - I drive a full-fat Rangie, and the speed limit at the point of collision is 40mph. if the old duffer was doing that sort of speed, I'm not so sure there would have been such a happy ending if he'd hit me in a regular vehicle. As it is, the B pillar is bent enough that the rear door has a large gap around the top.

I used Helphire years ago and they were very good.
I used them to avoid using my own insurance, as they only take your case on if its clearly not your fault. In my case a stupid bint ran into the back of me.
This meant I never paid an excess or even touched my insurance.
I had a hire car delivered, my car taken away and repaired, then returned and hire car picked up. They refunded all out of pocket expenses and I recieved a couple of hundred quid comp.
They took all the hassle out of the accident.
