So who's in?

Full day £150, half day £85. Full day is better all round and provided there are no novices turning up for the afternoon only session the track will go open pit-lane (much better). If we can get 10 or more cars on the full day then I should be able to negotiate something for us.

If you good folk want half days then novices will be encouraged to go AM so that regular trackers can have open pit in the PM. That will inevitably split us up and spoil the fun.

I'll be going full day anyway.

Please count me in for full day Bob.

I'm happy to take passenger rides (provided you buy your passenger ticket). Also happy to provide some tuition for first timers around Croft.

Looking forward to it.

Cheers,
Ian.

I'll come. I'll be there a full day but will probably only look to the afternoon session.

Iain, I'd love to take you up on that offer

Could I also ask about rides for Teemu?

Silly Question - will helmets be available to hire on the day or do we need our own?

Stefan, as a novice they will probably allow this but it may cause them to keep the pit lane closed in the PM. They really do like new comers and novices to be there in the morning so that they get a fuller safety briefing and they get to follow the pace car round a few times so that people can find the braking points. The PM session doesn’t usually include a pace car session and novices aren't allowed on track without it.

then I'll probably give the driving a miss.

I don't want to drive down there to put the car on the circuit straight away (more myself, I'd want a good long break before going out) and I wanted to get a feel of the place, how things worked where they went and the like before going out on to the track. I'm also not certain of the car's reliability and if I'll manage to get rid of this sodding vibration (I'm left to fix it myself as people are saying "old cars do that").

Ho hum, but probably for the best.

edit: I've just spoken to them btw regarding helmet hire cost and they said they are very busy at the moment due to the BTCC coming this weekend and you need to speak to Claire Jones as she organises the car track days (I simply asked if she could answer a few questions and was directed to her but as she was busy...).

Stefan, I know Claire Jones and find she responds better to e-mail than direct over the phone.

As for learning how things work at Croft, that is the very reason novices go in the morning. The mornings are set up to help you learn your way around the track and pits. The morning pace car session is just what you need to see the track in a safe and controlled environment. Believe me, if you have any worries, fears or concerns then go in the morning. The afternoon sessions are full of mad racers like me.

You could do the morning in your car and then have passenger rides in the afternoon.

I would be looking to do full day, as would be my first track day in the TVR (dependant upon when next Vmax is).

I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Hiya Bob.

Put me down for a full day. I think i'll need the morning session just to break myself in gradually.

Is that £150/car or /person?

I'd like the wife to come with me as she says she would be different on a track, but I don't fancy paying £150 for her to be twisty and me saying "I told you so".

byff, £150 is for the car and one driver, you'll have to pay extra for another driver or passenger. If memory serves it's £25 for a second driver, I'm not sure how much for a passenger but they do insist that passengers are registered and attend the safety brief so there's likely to be some charge.

Put me down as provisional, for the half day morning session at least.

If demand is high and spaces are limited I may just come and watch, maybe take a passenger ride. If there's space and I'm feeling brave I'll take the car out. If so, any and all offers of tuition gratefully received. (Hope you're feeling patient/brave)

What's the timescale for confirming/booking/paying?

Wendy there will be many Elise's there, there always are. I'm sure from what I've seen of these chaps that they would love to sit in your passenger seat and advise you of the finer points of Elise tracking.

Fun in yours in the morning and blaging rides in the afternoon.

....and of course you can have a passenger ride.

just been reading up in the Trackday forum (didn't know it was there) and had a thought - insurance. We're not covered usually.

I was given a number by Croft so I'll check for prices, but expect it to be at least £50 with excess > £1000.

Just thougtht I'd mention that in case newbies (like ickle me) hadn't realised (like ickle me).

Stefan, your safer on the track than on the road. Everyone is travelling in the same direction and the corners don't have curbs so you simply end up on the grass. Marshals black flag anyone overtaking incorrectly. Ask on the trackday forum how many people have had or witnessed a trackday accident. It really is a rare event and is normally only people who are seriously testing the limits of their cars and even then they won't be crashing into you because they aren't allowed to be that close. I'm not going to say it won't happen but trust me, it is safe. I do promise you that it'll be the safest, most policed road you'll ever drive on. People behave very well on track, numpties and maxes aren't permitted.

I've decided that I don't wish to take the Marlin onto the track this time - I was having reservations as you know but now money is also a little tight now that I need new tires / propshaft as well as the insurance in October (it's also a good reason at the moment).

If everyone has no objections I'll still come down and accept passenger rides willingly and hopefully Teemu will get some rides as well?

Bob,

Just out of interest. Do you know if they are running open pit lane, or 20 / 30 minute sessions on the day?

I'm looking forward to doing Croft again in the Noble. Last time was about 2 months ago. Had a good run with a fully sorted Nissan Skline GTR (he had slick tyres, full race suspension and a sqillion chipped BHP). After the session he came over to the car and said.... "Foo.ing hell, I've been doing track days for foo.ing years and nay foo.er has ever come past me. What the foo.ing is that? And your running on foo.ing road tyres"

Since then I've had a few mods to the suspension, including the new M400 shocks and springs, front anti roll bar and revised M400 gear linkage. Already have M400 engine (400bhp)

Look out for M400 report in Tuesdays Autocar.

Sorry I have missed a few meetings, but work commitments are getting busy in the lead up to our new SCOTT prouduct launch at the start of September.

I will be ready for a good track day by the time Croft comes on the 19th September.

Keep it on the black stuff until then.

cheers,
Ian.

Stefan, Come along anyway and book yourself in as a passenger. That way you can have the pleasure of being in several cars.
