Pistonheads advertising Wonga
Discussion
Might be 2000%+ APR but as it's a short term loan that figure is irrelevant.
If you're dumb enough to get in debt over something advertised as a 'quick fix' kind of loan then it's your own problem. There was some similar complaints on Radio2 a while back. Lots of people calling in saying how irresponsible the company is, etc. Then some people with common sense called, explaining how it's a decent short term solution, everything is clear from their site and if you can't afford to pay it back - you shouldn't be taking it out. Not hard is it?
I'd suggest installing adblock if you're really that susceptible to advertisements.

Will probably be binned quickly but don't think PH should be accepting advertising from companies like Wonga - just my pennysworth (at 2400apr)
+1I hate this kind of service. There is a huge percentage of this country that has no understanding of the concept of APR. It is not taught at school and though you may understand exactly what 2400%APR is, the majority of this country doesn't.
Vultures preying on the poorly-educated IMO. Some of these companies are also well known to have aggressive and misleading advertising campaigns.
I would be disappointed if the PH mgmt made a conscious decision to allow this kind of company to advertise on here.
I could be wrong, but don't think PH manages the ads individually - it sells the space to an agency/media company that fills it with their ads. There is some discretion to prohibit certain kinds or certain companies, but don't think the prescence of an ad means PH has ok'd that particular one.

This is correct.
We use Google AdSense. You can modify your preferences (specifically, what category of ads you'd like to be shown) here: http://www.google.com/ads/preferences
It somehow thinks I'm a 35-44 year old.

I'd be flattered if it was a concious decision - obviously the PH powers-that-be think the members are intelligent and well-educated enough to be able to work out if a short-term loan is useful and/or suitable for us.Buyer beware applies. Along with "if it looks too good to be true..."

What the hell, it thinks I'm a 35-44 year old interested in Cadillacs. It somehow thinks I'm a 35-44 year old.

What utter cobblers.Better than having your knees drilled by your dealer.
A very good service offered for a fair price to those who would otherwise not be able to borrow.
