I am located in the US and, once a car turns 25 years old, it can be imported into the US.

I am looking for either a 1987 or older Lancia Delta HF4WD or, next year, a 1988 Integrale 8V. John Whalley tells me that I should wait until next year and get the Integrale. I would like a car with little-to-no modifications. Once I get the car, I will be driving the car on gravel roads, so it does not need to be perfect.

If you have such a car that you are selling or intend on selling within the above time frame, let me know.

Whichever model you want is up to you, but you don't have to wait - there are a few younger cars (Evos) over there already.
I wouldn't buy some British rot box! Import one from Japan.

I know that there are Integrales over here. However, I want to have a car with no question marks hanging over it. I have owned a car with those kinds of issues for more than a decade.

My first choice was to get a car from Italy, but I kept running into road blocks, so I decided to turn to the UK. At least folks in the UK speak roughly the same language as I do and I have better connections for buying and shipping from there.

Do you have contacts for getting a car from Japan? Wouldn't the exchange rate translate into an overpriced car?

I look at it this way, If you buy British you stand a fair chance of a rotten one, if it's from Japan then the likelihood is that it won't be. If you enjoy fabricating unobtainable parts and welding then a Brit car is the one for you.
In the UK we have been importing Jap cars for a few years now and quite a lot have just sailed through and straight out the other side to Europe. Italian & German imports were the thing in the 90s and noughtys, but not now, they've realised what they have/had and are hanging onto what is left or buying back in small quantities.

The Jap exodus is slowing down and mainly they are selling off tat, but there are still good ones to be had.
In your position I would buy a Jap car. I don't have any car selling connections in Japan, here in the UK it may be worth speaking to Bryn at Performance Leg ends as he may be able to direct a car (from Japan) your way.

Good luck with your search!

Why does he have to purchase a *brit* rot box?, simply have the car checked over before purchase, regards the Jap import they have serious issues too, some right horror stories like any imported car.

OP - Speak to either Tanc B or Keith at Auto intergrale and ask their advise.

Plenty of very nice UK cars about ( like mine )

I don't believe he 'has' to buy anything - you've managed to spell the model of the car you have incorrectly.

Seems i'll never be able to spell any of my cars correctly as dyslexic, have real troble with Gallardo and Reynard wink, but yes well spotted.... very impressive.

Anyway stop giving erroneous advice, the guy faces real risks importing Jap hacks unless he intends to take a trip out there and inspect the car ( not hard and fairly cheap ), even so plenty of very nice UK car's with FSH and owner/garage history . Most if not all the rotten ones have been scraped or restored.

We get a lot of Japanese used cars down here in NZ, well over half of the integrale's here are from Japan, there are some absolute minters, but there have been some real shockers come in too, it's the luck of the draw. You really don't want to buy one sight unseen. Mine is ex Germany, then sometime in London, it had a bit of rust but nothing too serious, and after a visit to a good body shop it's all gone.

It can all be fixed, just depends on how much you want to spend.

I would contact Richard Thorne ( http://www.rtcc.co.uk/ ) they deal in Morgan and have some used Lancias, and sometimes deltas.

^^ i looked at a Lancia he had a few years back, huge crack in the sill/A pillar on passenger side ( not good ) , when i quizzed this he passed off as nothing serious..., a test drive confirmed it was in a poor state.

Nice Morgans tho

Hi,

Please ignore some of nonsense that has been posted on this thread.

As pointed out by others you will have as much chance of finding a good uk car as a jap one. The problem with jap cars is they have all done 30k miles and have dubious history, some are honest others are not.

Not many people are importing early cars to the uk as there is little profit to be had EvoII's are where there money is.

8v grale's probably are more plentiful than HF 4WD

If a Jap car is what you want, Do the homework research a good broker who speaks english(many do) and buy one direct this will save you a fortune in tax container charges and the uk dealers mark up.

Alternatively there are plenty of good uk cars to be had, get it checked out properly by an integrale specialist .

Good luck
