I am currently selling my TVR and I have an interested buyer who is coming to look at the car form the Netherlands with potentially purchasing it there and then! All seems very genuine the only issue is the car still has a private plate on that needs removing. Now I spoken to buyer who is interested and he is happy to collect the car pay for it and for me to keep all the paper work until the plate is put on retention, has anyone else found their self in this sitiuation and how did you deal with it?
Thank you
Zach

You could put the plate on retention and revert back to its original one.

If you've any sense you will do this before handing title to the plate and car over to the buyer.

When I was selling my TVR I had three from the Netherlands contact me, not one turned up.

As far as I work it out, if they buy it there and then and drive it back they probably wont have insurance to do so. You will be keeping the paperwork so if anything happens its all in your name.

Why dont you go down to local DVLA office, transfer there and then back to original plate, keep private plate on car and specify in sale receipt the plate VRM to revert it back to. The new owner wont need the logbook as it will be re-registered in Holland (if genuine) but make sure you get something in writing from them with contact/ address details in case something does happen.

In fact the new owner could probably reuse the plate number in Holland anyway as its a different country.

i sold my cerbera to jean from Finland he collected it one week later and drove it all the way back to Finland in the snow, a real hero :-) ( his photos are in the tvr section)
i left the plates on for him, as i didnt want them anymore i also think they need to keep the plates until they leave the uk.
when you transfer the logbook to the seller, its not totally clear exactly what to do, to me anyway :-)but it seems to suggest you have to give up the whole of the v5!!
so i suggest that you take a copy of all of the v5 BEFORE and After its signed as proof, and maybe research what you are actually supposed to do with the V5.
reading this back, it doesnt seem to be of much help as i thought, sorry
