Looks lovely, mind you so does the price! I guess if you don't ask you don't get but is it really worth that money?

Dont think it's worth anything close to that price if I'm honest. So it's a nb rs with some wide body parts bolted on and then some engine tweaks. You could build the same for half the price.

It's a cracking car, no doubting that, but it's neither fish nor fowl. Irrespective of whether the parts used to carry out the conversion were original or not, it's not a 3.8 RS and neither is it a 964RS.
Not sure you could build it on a genuine RS for half the price mind. I priced up a widebody conversion last year using all OE parts yikes add in the wheels and its starts to get pretty pricey.

I've seen the real deal go for less than that (3.8 RS).

I must disagree with this , this is a 964rs the fact that its widened has nothing to do with it . If it did then all the 2.8 rsr's now fetching a minimum of half a million pounds are all not genuine because as we all know almost all of them were cut and chopped into 74 rsr's etc etc .

And I must disagree with this ^ smile
The 2.8 RSR was a factory built car and incredibly rare in itself. If someone were to take a '73 2.7RS and fit a set of 2.8 RSR arches/wings/bumpers along with 9" & 11" Fuchs, it wouldn't increase its value from £250K to £500k overnight. The same applies to to 964RS and a 3.8RS. Whilst the car may have more Hp than the factory 3.8 car, it isn't a 3.8 and doesn't have the factory six throttle body induction set up. I've no doubt that the factory 3.8RS has a raft of changes not visible to the casual observer.

It's one thing upgrading a '73 RS to a 2.8RSR, it's a different matter altogether upgrading an already rare 2.8 RSR to a '74 RSR.

All the above leaves aside the reason why the car was converted to W/B in the first place.

The 2.8 RSRs fetching £500k+ were built from new at the Factory and designated M491.

Amethyst isn't the nicest colour, sadly. And still flying a kite at the price, given the conversion.

I still remember looking at a genuine 3.8 RSR widebody for sale in midnight blue for 44995 GBP at the Devonshire Motor Company. This was when 964RS were under 20k and I had an 8k 944 cab, but my budget was about 12k and was stretching to a 964C2 or nice 3.2. If I had the money at the time, I would have certainly bought the RSR. But at 250k these days, maybe it would have ended up as a rather sad garage queen. Shame. One of the best looking 911s around IMO.

Had a heart attack moment in between seeing the price and not registering that it wasn't the real deal...
Was reaching for the phone to call them and see it immediately.

Gorgeous. But I'd want the real deal....

you have misunderstood my post . i did not say it is a 3.8 , i said it is still a 964 rs adding wider wings does not change that .

yes but in 74 they were all changed to 74 rsr body and engine and in 75 etc etc . they are still 73 rsr's regardless of what they went through .

In that case, it ain't worth anything like the £125k asking price. smile

BTW, good to see you at Silverstone earlier, aplolgies for not stopping to introduce myself, I had some driving to do.

Originality and provenance is everything with these cars to command top dollar. Mods and tuning carry little value in a used market, and in the case of vintage Porsche may actually detract depending on the work (structural strengthening is ok). Also, there have been crashed cars repaired by the likes of 9M that have seen these kinds of conversions; 9Ms work is good. Might be worth finding out why this particular car was converted.

It's a nice trackable bitsa.
