holidays and bank holiday question

I work shifts of 12h on a 4on 4off rolling rota the direct.gov website says this entitles me to 19.8 paid 12h shifts off a year. I know that this can include bank holidays. I get 16 days holiday plus bank holidays, however I don't actually get these bank holidays off if I'm of shift. bank holidays I'm not on shift I get full pay to not be in, on days I'm on shift I get double pay to be in. id rather have single payfor all the days but the days off.

I'm just wondering can your employer say "that day you worked for double pay was a day of holiday entitlement" even if id rather have the time off.

I know they can tell me when to take them but I'm wondering if they can tell me I have to have double pay instead of the time off?

I think you are best off speaking to your employer about this. It seems to vary between companies but if you are working it I wouldn't imagine that it would use up holiday because of the double pay. Admittidly, I would rather take double pay that a day off anyway!
