engine question
Discussion
Thanks Andy. Should have read the 'accessories' list more carefully! I'm probably 4-6 months off being ready to fit the engine, but can't make up my mind whether to build or have built, or what spec to go for. I've read through lots of previous posts several times over which I've found really useful (thanks all). I'm still having a problem deciding what spec etc., but its a nice problem to have. I will be using it mainly on public roads, and may be the odd track day, but will leave Clive's mini for you to play with

If you ask 10 people what they want or have, you will likely get 10 different answers...
Among others, Here is an example of what I requested from my engine builder:
1974 or prior 4 bolt main block (1974 or prior to prevent the need for cats and a full blown emissions test in the area that I live)
Approx 500 HP at 5,280 ft altitude
EFI
Aluminum heads
smooth idle
low end torque
forged pistons and rotating assy (all balanced to within 5-8 grams)
Ceramic coated (Clevite) piston tops, bearing surfaces, valves etc.
The engine is about a week away from the dyno, and I will give all the specs like cam, internals, and Dyno results when I get it back. It certainly wont be the tell all end all of engines, but I think a solid example of a streetable and relaible build-up.
