Just had a quote from Footman James and it is double last year!

I have a supercharged Mk 2 and had it piggy back insured with a Peugeout 306 Rallye. So both cars shared the same 12 years NCB and last year I paid £417. This year the quote is £830. Bloody riculous.

Anyone have any suggestions of companies willing to both insure a modified 5 and do piggy back so two cars on one policy?

TIA!

Anyone suggest where I might get my 1999 supercharged MX5 and 1999 306 Rallye insured at a good price? Just posted this in the Flux thread too.

They were on the same policy, sharing my 12 years NCB but the quote has just DOUBLED!

Just found the Flux thread and posted on there. Will resort to good old talking to people if they don't get back to me....

Sky Insurance, theres the contact details of a chap on Nutz forum to talk to - knows MX-5s, very helpful, did me a great deal last year and its good cover too, things like lost keys, courtesy cars etc etc unlike some of the budget stuff people are going with (cough, admiral, elephant, cough)

I'll nip over there later. Off to see a nice low mileage Mk 1 which looks likely to be a swap for the Pug Rallye.

Call CCI (Competition Car Insurance) and speak to Lisa Daxner. I've had my Elise and MX5 insurance through them for the last 5 years and they've always had the best value policies. Also includes Euro cover and 5 trackdays if that's of any interest to you.

They've already been mentioned, but I've never found anyone more helpful than Sky or Flux; I'm insured with the latter for a very reasonable amount. smile

Hope all is well Lee.

Cheers Luke. Yep, all fine. But I am working in away in Dublin's fair city so have had to delegate the job of sorting insurance to my wife; we are away skiing from Monday and the insurance expires the day we come home.

I hope she is on the case tomorrow......

I'm currently on the yearly insurance hunt as well. Admiral have hiked up the renewal as usual.

So far thanks to the recommendations in this thread I'd be saving money based vs the compare the meerkat jobbies with Sky. However at the moment CCI are even cheaper and the best value.

I'm waiting on a few calls back tomorrow but it's looking like either Sky or CCI will be my new insurer.

Guys I put a post on here a little while ago recommending REIS. sub £400 premium with an agreed value of 4k on my minty mk2 RS. Only £40 more for when the supercharger goes on.

Good luck with the hunt.

That sound good. I will see if they do multiple car policies too.

Clucking bells. Have all insurance companies gone barking mad? I have 12 years NCB, and Flux want £710 for my supercharged MX5!

OK, only £15 to add the Rallye but it is still bloody extortionate.

I went with Sky for £440. 2002 1.8 sport, my only car, 26 with 6yrs ncb, medium risk post code.
Very good price vs rivals and good cover. Luke from Sky was very helpful to boot. Im a happy customer so far, thanks for the recommendation.

Supercharged Mk 2 plus Pug 306 Rallye, I'm over 50 with 12 years NCB and Luke quoted about £1000. Go figure, cos I bloody can't.....

This worries me, I thought MX5s were supposed to be great second cars as they were cheap to insure / run, based on the above it would seem they are not so cheap to insure!
