Had first breakdown today, well car wouldn't start after stopping for petrol not sure if that qualifies..?. Anyhoo, despite always being left on the accumate assume battery is knackered. Not had a chance to look as had to ditch the car for the daily as we are away for the weekend, but is the battery in the passenger footwell like a chim? Also after a quick google Bosch S4008 seems a good choice anyone got any thoughts?

My tuscan did exactly the same at the local petrol station! I would definitely recommend the Optima Red Top. It Made a huge difference to the starting performance of my Red Rose. It's quite expensive but well worth it. The battery tray is under the passenger wheel arch.

This... is worth a read if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for the link, interesting and scary read... I was aware of an issue with the Anderson connector and have made sure its checked each service but wasn't aware of the issue with the orientation of the terminals (ie pos next to chassis).

So that in mind in mind need to decide which battery to buy. Red top as above recommendation thanks seems to be a tight fit in the Tuscan from a quick search, did you have any bother fitting?

The one I went for ( this one...) fitted fine, but you may need to re-do your cables as the +'ve may not reach the 'revised' terminal position.

As mentioned in that thread - don't leave it to chance and do check the condition of your Anderson connector (YOURSELF!) while you're under the wheelarch.

If in doubt - bin it (as I did)!

OK, rather than starting another battery thread, thought i'd add to this one.

Recently bought a Bosch HSB096 for my Tuscan 2, however although it's 278mm wide which seemed to be the general rule, it's a bit too wide for the battery tray. I could get it squished in if I take off the holding lugs at the bottom of the battery, but obviously don't want to start hacking bits of plastic if I can avoid it.

Anyone managed to squeeze a 278mm wide battery in there? If not, i'm looking for something with a decent CCA and good warranty, any recommendations?

Have just replaced battery so car is up and running again. Wiring looked ok to me and previous owner has fitted a heat shield pad thing at the side of the battery which i guess will act as a barrier to thr chassis so have just fitted a normal oriented battery.

Out of interest if the worst was to happen and the car went up is there a quick way to disconnect the battery or a shut off anywhere on the car?

Ahhh... Whats the story behind that, Anderson connector? Take it the bonnet off and guy in the footwell was looking for the battery?
