How to connect amp to MA BX2 speakers? (idiot novice)
Discussion
Hi,
hopefully someone can save my embarrassment and help me before the shops open in the morning. I'm a complete hifi idiot and treated myself online to a new toy to go along with the new house. In a moment of madness I've spent more than I ever thought I would on a Marantz MCR603 and a pair of Monitor Audio BX2s with some "free" speaker cable. They were a tempting price. I was tempted. Trouble is I haven't a clue how to connect them together and the manual for the speakers literally gives no instruction whatsoever.
The speakers appear to have two sets of ports on the rear but no markings other than HF and LF (high and low frequencies?).
Like I say, no wiring set up indications at all in the manual or manufacturer's website and googling brings up everything and nothing.
Any help appreciated.

There should be some jumpers to connect the LF and HF terminals together on the speakers (black to black and red to red); they may be bent flat pieces of metal which fit neatly or just bits of wire or rods, but they're usually in place from the factory.
Then just connect your wires, red on the speaker to red on the amp (bearing in mind which will be left and which will be right as you face them) and black on the speaker to black on the amp. Simple. Speaker cable usually has some way of discerning which wire is which; a ridge or some writing on one of the conductors only is quite common. That helps you work out that you're connecting the correct colour; it'll still work if you go red-black but it'll sound spatially weird.
