Aftermarket wheels/tyres for T350/Tam??
Discussion
Has anyone fitted anything other than Spiders to their cars?
I know a few have fitted SP12's, but not sure what size wheels/tyres/offsets they are? We've fitted RL7's temporarily - which don't really work because they're the wrong offsets!
Basically, trying to work out a decent upgrade in wheel/tyre size and what we can get away with realistically? It's a while off, but something we're definitely considering our options.
Any thoughts/photos/size info is greatly appreciated.

Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2s 8in fronts, 9in rears, with Toyo R1Rs, 255/35/18 rears. The R1R's are the best £ for £ upgrade I've done to the car. Make a huge difference in terms of traction. Still got the Eagle Assyms on the front, 225 35 r18 but will be getting R1R's when they wear out. Same wheel as the SP12, Rimstock have all the correct offsets etc.

I think so. Rimstock made the spiders so just assuming they took the same offsets. I just told them what they were going onto and they sorted it. They did however have to have a couple of attempts to get them machined correctly. To be fair they sorted it no questions, but the Pro Race 1.2 is a budget wheel and if I changed them I'd go for something forged and a bit better spec. Having said that with the state of the roads I'm beginning to think of wheels as 'consumables', like tyres, and just want something that looks good and isn't going to make me cry if I hit a pothole.

Reasonable budget - SP12s
A bit more to spend - those Work CR wheels, proper Japanese lightweight (& quality) stuff
Both look great IMO (first two cars in this thread).
Work CR wheel is casting. I think a proper Japanese wheel that it has to be forged!!A bit more to spend - those Work CR wheels, proper Japanese lightweight (& quality) stuff

Such as manufacturing BBS(made in Japan)and RAYS, NEEZ.

How deep are Jeff's pockets this year Ben

Proper bespoke racing split rims so any width/size/offset and can replace outer rim if dinged, same weight as SP12 etc but obviously more expensive at circa £500 each, though not as light or expensive as forged.
I first spotted them on another PH'ers Sagaris, I got so fed up with having to replace a wheel every 2-3 months so made the decision to have them fitted to my car about 5 years ago, along with a new set of racing reds dampers and geo set up.
It completely transformed the handling of the car, but this was probably more down to the new dampers and geo setup than the new wheels.
One thing to note is they are motorsport wheels and although are very strong and durable, the paint finish is not up to the same spec as some of the more bling bling wheels as seen above.
Cost was about £1100 and as long as they have got the blank cast wheels in stock, they can machine them to whatever off set and stud pattern you require.
5 years on no more buckled wheels and still looking like new.

I like them! How much did they set you back, and did you notice any differences over the spiders?

Aubrey - I'll get a photo, due to a puncture its half an half at present (RL7s up front, spiders at the back) - but the key issue (aside from our puncture!) is that they're too narrow at the back, you would need spacers to push them out a bit both aesthetically and performance wise.
Will get one maybe sunday when I am off work?!
Paul - Very interesting!! Unfortunately Dads pockets aren't 'Image' deep, but as Blair (357blair/kitcarblair/whatever hes calling himself) suggests, we'll be looking at various cheaper wheels in the Japanese fitment but getting our local fabrication guys (Dynotorque) to sort out the centre bore. Equally, none of this will happen this season - the hillclimb budget is taking a big hit in July as we're going to spectate at the Pikes Peak!!!
Out of interest, what size wheels have you got in terms of rim width/ what tyre sizes? Last time I saw Matt he was running 305s or something crazy like that?!
Interesting thread so far ladies and gents, thanks!
