We are looking to trade in our 2008 330d Convertible.

My thinking is that the recent good weather and it being the end of the month and the financial year that this would be THE ideal time to do a deal, also the dealership we are going to is stuffed full of stock at the moment.

I like to go in armed and knowledgeable any tips?

Try by all means, but having spoken to a motor trader when I bought my MX5 they really don't take the weather into consideration when buying soft tops. It's just book, book and book price they're thinking off. You may be able to persuade a dealer that he definitely should take your car in P/X as it would be an easy sale at this time of year but I wouldn't expect any more cash than you would see otherwise.

Going in armed will be the only way you'll come out with a decent pile of cash. Good luck and wear a balaclava.

lol well maybe that could be a back up plan!

I was thinking of a trade in so is this not the ideal time right at the exit of the financial year? surely he will be itching to make a deal at this time?

Worth trying to see if it is end of financial year, a lot of companies have changed to a June or Dec end though. I have always been told end of a month is key for targets rather than a fiscal year. And true, they just get the old glasses guide out and that's the p/ex value in my experience.

Maybe, maybe not.

Your best best it to try various dealers and play them off against each other.
