So you have a family car and maybe a second "fun" car in the garage which you hardly use. If you sold both, what would you buy/build for around £30k that could manage trips to the dump and still surprise the odd Nissan GTR?

I really like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcZUdDIwUIY

I like jap stuff, so I would say a stagea... tuned it's a fantastic wolf in sheep's clothing.

They're pretty darn cheap too.

+1

My friend has one, remapped to 700bhp. Warp speed. We clocked 182 mph gps at RAF Marham last week in the wet. I had a few laps too. Phenomenal machine. On the road just way way too fast. Sneeze on the motorway cruising and you'll be close to 150 mph....lol.

Too big and heavy for my taste, I vote for Legacy. My mechanic has one with ~650bhp, needless to say its pretty quick.

The original fast estate was the Audi RS2.

which spawned this

I think sheep would be outraged at this suggestion.

Christ that's an ugly car.

My bulldog travels in the back of

He's a lot happier in this than in the Clio which preceded it, as that meant sitting on the back seat, which he didn't enjoy.

I can only buy cars with a decent boot now.

All depends what you consider fast - Subaru were making 4wd turbo wagons (estates to you lot) in the mid 80's, the Leones were still pretty slow but the '89 Legacy RS was over 200hp. Obviously 100+hp down on the RS2, but it was 5 years earlier and a 14 second quarter mile was very quick for the time.

I consider the RS2 the first FAST estate. Not really into the Jap Scooby estates.

Whether you're into them or not doesn't change the fact that they were making an estate version of their rally car 5 years before Audi came out with the RS2. RS2 much faster yes (at least in standard form), but it wasn't first.
