Inoperative windows & floppy drivers door mirror
Discussion
I have discovered that my passenger window failure is due to a broken switch, can anyone tell me what model of car they originate from or do they have to be ordered from a specialist?
The driver side does not work and the switch is ok as I swapped it to the passenger side and that works fine. Could the winder motor have failed? Where can these be obtained?
I am going to get a meter and test voltage at the motor to eliminate wiring failure to this point.
I have stripped out the door panel etc and the window seems to have a bit of play but seems to be in the runners although its hard to see as it is stuck in the up position.
The drivers mirror is floppy and I expected a nut inside the door, but no! How do you get the mirror off, sorry for being a noob and I am sure you guys have had these questions a thousand times
Any ideas very welcome.

There is a detailed description of doing this *somewhere* on here, though it related to the same task on a Lotus I believe.
Worth searching for.
There may be alternative switches, but the usual TVR suspects seem to stock them at not-to-crazy prices; TVR Power, Racing Green etc.

It sounds like you have a broken "mushroom" or ratchet spring if it's flopping around. More of an annoying job than a big one, mostly because of the number of things that need to be removed to get at the single internal fixing.

If its the whole mirror thats come loose it just screws into a threaded boss in the door, you can unscrew the whole thing and take it out, the cable is long enough to take the twist as its unscrewed. clean the thread apply locktite and screw back in, adjust the mirror before it hardens.
Hi fellas
I now have the customary Chimaera forearm scars and fibreglass splintered fingers stripping the entire door out is not a pleasant job!
The window motor had water in it and is shot so a new one will be fitted. The play in the glass is due to the holes in the metal plate that is fitted to the glass and the slider plate on the mechanism being totally worn out and oval they are much bigger than the 10 mm bolt holes, so both will be replaced. They probably wore out more quickly as the rear runner channel was out of alignment and the curvature of the glass made it tight half way down thus putting excessive pressure on the plate.
I am not sure how the glass and plate part company I guess you just prise them apart, is there any adhesive required to refit?
The turret on the door mirror has broken so the grub screw does not tighten to the door boss, in addition the metal spring loaded clip that locates in the boss had come loose, the pop rivet had worn out and come loose, so this will also have to be replaced, is it citroen AX?
The rubber cover that is pop riveted to the door skin is torn and split so it will be replaced.
So I am on the hunt for the following:
Door mirror or mushroom boss
Window motor
Glass metal plate
Winder mechanism plate or entire mechanism
Rubber aperture skirt cover
New stainless nuts and bolts all round
Wiring sheath that covers loom in door aperture.
Should be good as new once its all fitted.
Thanks for all the tips so far.
