Tripod queries, looked but can't find

I'm really after a tripod mainly for video work, but also fairly robust so I can stick a pano head on it for example (fairly heavy with a bowl adaptor)
It'd also be preferable to have a bowl head so I can use any kind of head I need to.


The best kinda thing I've seen is the Manfrotto 535, which is basically angle locking legs and normal single shaft multi-stage legs. It's just totally perfect. Goes high, low, and is rigid and has a bowl. It will go on smooth ground, rough ground, etc etc...

However, it's CF, and very expensive

Does anyone know of any 75mm bowl tripods using locking angle single shaft legs that isn't carbon and so is a bit cheaper?

It's rather annoying since the technical design is cheap (looking at Manfrotto range of tripods with these features in normal metals), but they are all carbon after about £200 when you get something with decent loading capacity, and adding a bowl suddenly makes them £400+ despite having less parts!


I've checked all over but generally it seems that if you want a bowl and single shaft legs it's automatically CF and £450+

Hmmm, looks like I finally found one

The Miller 1630 looks right enough.

Compared to the Manfrotto one it's not much heavier, but has a much wider height range, and is likely to be more rigid and of a better quality, and more robust if you knock it etc...


Anyone on here using lower end Miller stuff and finding it very good?
