Well, all these other people doing things has finally spurred me on to doing mine.

I was going to do all this when the body was off but I had to change the diff anyway and once I'd gotten into that it was all a little bit late!

Anyway, here are a few shots and comments pointers from what I found doing my bushed. I've done 13 in the last 2 days.

Rear upright, the lower ones on this are are pain. Probably the 2nd worst to due due to hacksaw access.

Heating the rubber.

Getting there but nit quite enough.

She burns!!!

Now the other side, trick is to concentrate the heat on the centre boss as this will get the heat into the rubber.

About 20 seconds of both sides being fully alight is enough to allow the centre to slide out easily. You should see the rubber ooze out from around the centre you know it's ready then.

Longnose pliers easily pull the centre out.

Next, slide the pliers behind the rubber outer and grab at least 50%of it. This will ensure the whole thing comes out.

And you're left with this, and nice easy access outer. You then need to hacksaw this. I found one cut was sufficient. You have to make sure that it gets through most of the outer evenly to allow easy removal. If it won't budge then you need to cut some more.

It's important that you cut level as you will easily cut the front and rear too much and cut into the outer.

Now onto the upper diff. I heated the rubber at first.

I then gave up as I'd loosened the centre a little and it was pretty hot under there. So I continued with a few hacks with a drill bit to release the centre.

A few more stabs with the drill and the rubber was loose.

Pushed out with a long pry bar.

Out she comes.

Now to hack the outer.

Getting there.

Didn't have to go all the way through but nearly.

What you are left with.

I'd managed to get this down to 10-15 mins per bush. I'd bought new upper rear wishbones so saved myself having to do 2 there. So in reality it's 3 hours of solid burning, cutting and beating once you have it all apart!!

Just got to out it all back together now.

Only 6 left to do on the front now as I've already done the drag links.

Hi Peter, yep it was! After attempting the other bushes and how tight they were without cutting I had to loosen the shell first. I used the main bar to drive it out so it did help a lot as I had nothing else that was long enough or heavy enough to be of any use! smile

As far at the rest of the chassis goes, I have a clear deadline of Chatsworth as this is the shakedown run for a trip to Monaco on the 9th May.

I don't really want to start POR-15'ing the chassis as I think this will just make more work when it comes out at a later date. I may give a scrape and slop some hammerite on but that's gonna be it.

All the paint for the wishbones is here and ready, just need to get them all blasted this week. Have another huge crate of parts to go off for zinc plating this week also.

Thing is what do you save buy buying it? A week of shot blast and paint?

All the time is burnt up in stripping and replacing parts, that actual chassis work time is gonne be no longer than 2-3 week if you sent it out to have new outriggers, shot blasted and then re-powder coated.

Then what do you do with your old chassis?? Who'll want it and the agro of changing V5 details and dealing with the DVLA.... wink
