First time at Mallory

Was at a track day yesterday at Mallory which was our first time out at a proper circuit rather than airfields and Bedford. Was a challenging day in the good sense of the word. Learning about Gerrards, learning about driving in more traffic and where to put your car where there are faster ones out on the circuit.

Gerrards was a buzz, but as we are driving a fairly standard Mini Cooper S (06) we found precious little power after the hairpin, neded more grunt on the straights and the fast corners. This was really useful as it informs us what our next upgrades could be e.g. more power

Interesting to hear about others' first time or fun experiences at Mallory

I was at Mallory yesterday.
After being a bit apprehensive first thing due to the number of cars & the early couple of red flags it turned out to be a great day.
What colour is your Mini. I seem to remember a couple yesterday.

So you have done one trackday where you admit you were holding people up and you think you need more power?!?!?!

The money you were going to invest in the power upgrades, spend instead on tuition and getting more seat time.

Your car has EASILY enough power. Work on yourself rather than the car at first.

Then look at tyres, suspension and brakes before power.

I would concentrate on improving brakes & suspension before increasing power.

I was there too... White mx5 with black boot.

Shame about the BMW in the morning, I saw it when it hit the barrier and it was a big thud!

Just a light hearted post matey..don't get to excited. Yep need all that you mention, but fancy more power because i do. I probably held up very few people as was most courteous and in effect did ok for a standard cooper s with current skills base. Will get more tuition (have done a bit already).

66 cars..so pretty busy and so power was an issue on the straights..not alot to do with skills - and its only a track day. But good fun circuit - really enjoyed it and a good test.
