bringing a car from Calais to Dover....

The story goes, I arranged to get a car today from Calais, waiting all day for my mate to get his shogun with a tow hitch so i can trailer the car but he's out and i cant get hold of him.

How can i get the car onto the boat and into the UK? is there any transport companies i can use for this? I will have all the paper work, just no export plates so i cant drive it under its own steam.

Any help would be appreciated as i'm pulling my hair out and the guy is driving from Holland with it, so worst case i'll be stuck in calais with a car i cant drive anywhere as i cant let him down!

Can you not organise for a uk transport company to collect it from Calais for you and deliver it to your UK address?

Or do a Google search for a Calais based transport company to do the same.

Or do you know anyone in the trade who could drive it back for you with trade plates on?

Dutch Export plates can be got from Airports and all over the place, takes about 30 mins and gives you insurance too, it would be easier tbh for you to get to Holland and do this and drive the car back.

Although if the car is taxed etc in Holland, and you can get insurance there is no reason not to drive it home on the dutch plates
