So I looked out of the window and noticed we had space for a 5th car, but what to buy?
I hunted high and low for something that took my fancie new or old and then decided on a classic, but which one?
After looking at various cars I came across an Amazon on fleabay that needs a little work, the ad was poorly presented with very little info, the seller wasn't returning answers to questions either which I feel put a lot of people off bidding as one sold for over £5k a few hours before. So with one second left to run I thought f
kit whats the worst that could happen 
I got her for £1220. So i rented a trailer and headed sarrf to the land of the fake tan.
So far she needs
Both rear brake cylinders replacing (the brake pedal goes straight to the floor)
A new exhaust
4 new tyres
A service
An MOT
The dashboard re-covering
A new drivers seat cover as it's ripped near the headrest
Most of the chrome is scratched and needs re-doing and both ends of the front bumber replacing due to being bashed
New overriders front and rear (although they can wait)
It does look pretty solid although Im not sure what the filler to metal ratio is
but overall Im pretty happy with her,

£1230 i think i'll hold out for £1250 , Yep for the mot I think (hope) I'll get away with 4 tyres, exhaust and making the brakes work. i've got my own car lift (although not brave enough to put it up for a look yet) so it should be easy enough, all the electrics work which was a nice surprise and the inner bulkheads are good too (known to rot due to leaky windscreens).
I can assure you it will be no garage queen either.

Everyone I know (apart from the OH) has said WTF have you bought that for, it's old 
Im hoping to have enough time to get her back into service in the next 2-4 weeks, im also going to update this thread with pics of the work I do and hopefully inspire people to keep old cars on the road instead of throwing things away.
Although I have my own lift it is only normally used for routine servicing of my fleet of vans, so some things will be a learning curve for me and I shall share my fkups and victories with you.

What engine has it got?
Cracking cars, smooth, comfortable and yours sounds like a bargain, there was one up at £15k on here last week!

It's got the b18 single carb, I think once I have it mot'd she'll stand me at around £2k, it's not a show winner though thats for sure, I don't think it will ever be worth £15k.What engine has it got?

I remember reading your post when you got yours last year and thinking what a great car it is
I can't believe how cheap the insurance is either, £86 fully comp for me "n" her including legal protection
That still looks cheap to me, they won't be standing at that price for long, I've seen several comfortably clear of £5k and the 2dr ones aren't as common.
It is a great car, I need to get mine serviced and the steering box serviced to keep mine in fine fettle, love wafting around in it

Thanks for the positive comments guys
I've just noticed another job for the list, the screenwash isn't working, someone in the past has wired it upto a switch (it should work from the wiper speed stalk but doesn't) and it has got smashed under the dash, so an inline switch and fuse will do it I hope. The pump works fine so thats something good at least.
