Cat missing need advice
Discussion
Our 16 year old cat Cassie has been missing since Friday afternoon.
This is totally out of character for her she has only not came back about 4 times in 16 years.
My wife and i have been round all the surrounding neighbours and asked them to check garages/huts etc but no sign of her,we also phoned the local cat protection league to register her missing.
We took her to the vets on Thursday evening as on wednesday she had kept us up all night by consitantly meeowing. The vet gave her a full check over and the only thing she came up with was the possibility of a bladder infection and gave her an antibiotic jab.
Also on Friday morning she had a wee run in with a Bengal type cat that lives in the street, but nothing serious just a bit of name calling and stand off.
We dont really know what else to do except sit and wait and see if/when she turns up.
The other thing i meant to say is Cassie doesnt wander very far, only really our garden and the neighbours on both side of us.
Any suggestions or help would be very gratefully received,my wife is really upset.

Yes both of us quite upset, she is a superb wee cat,we both just cant understand what has happened.
We thought maybe she took the huff as we had her at the vet and had decided to stay out to punish us but i think something else has happened. We live on the outskirts of town in a private housing estate,we dont have neds hanging about and very little traffic so dont think anything like that has happened.
Dont mean to ramble on,just a bit sad and confused!!!!!.To make matters worse i have had to come to Aberdeen this afternoon on a training course, back on Tuesday though.
Spoke to my wife and she is making up some compliments type slips tomorrow and is going to put them through all the other houses in the estate, both our next door neighbours are on holiday this week and have promised to phone us if she appears. Will get my wife to phone all the local vets as cassie has a chip.

As Bex has said, phone all the Vets in the area, RSPCA, Cat Protection, shelters etc.
You are already flyering the area
Keep on going outside and calling her, shake food & stay there quietly for a few mins, and repeat.
Call loudly and softly - she may be have had a fright & will need encouragement to come to you.
Check under cars & bushes
Good luck, I know how distressing it is when they don't come home for a couple of days

go out in the middle of the night calling for her, sound travels better at night as little traffic etc, and if she is locked in some where you should be able to hear her calling, i so hope shecomes home, its a nightmare when they go missing, put posters up on telegraph poles and near post boxes, and get the vets to logg her details in their lost/found book
When one of our cats went missing when she was younger it was awful, just a few tips we gathered at the time:
- Notify the microchip company she is missing
- Print some posters and leaflets, be sure to include a colour photo and a reward if you can
- Knock on people's doors and ask them if they'd mind if you took a look around yourself. They won't crawl on their hands and knees looking for her under decking etc, but you will.
- She may be hiding away if she is injured, in pain or has been spooked. Check in every nook and crany.
- Register her on petlost, it's a national community of people who will keep an eye out for her and a reference for anyone who may find her to contact you. I know you said she is chipped but I rescued a cat a few months ago whose chip wasn't picked up by the scanner. One of my dog's chip has migrated into her leg, so they aren't foolproof.
- Call all local vets and rescue centres daily. Basically, keep your cat at the forefront of their minds.
- I know it is grim, but do call your local council incase she has been hit by traffic. They log everything they collect and usually hold the body for a week to allow owners to come forward
- Go out calling her, rattling her food etc as often as you can. Our cat was found only 4 doors away in their garage when we were doing the usual rounds with her food tin and calling for her. She had been missing for 2 nights but for some reason only called out then, so repeat your search areas regularly
I will sound really horrible here but please don't think this of me, I am just hoping that you are preparing yourself for what to me was a likely answer - she has gone away somewhere to find peace - as in, to move on to cat heaven. Cats do that, I hate that fact about them, but she is 16.
If it's not that, and I do hope it isn't, then as above, it's fliers and neighbour checks of gardens and garages especially given the weekend we had I reckon a lot of people will have been in sheds etc

Thanks for all the suggestions and kind words.
Still no sign of Cassie,my wife has done the vet calls, council calls, micro chip calls, delivering fliers tonight so there is not much else we can really do.
I know that cats can and do go somewhere else to die but Cassie had just been to the vets the day before and had a clean bill of health apart from a suspected wee infection. If she has passed away would just like her back so as we have closure on what has happened and also would like to give her a burial or might even get her cremated.Keep hoping she will turn up,we will miss her a lot if she doesnt.

I feel your pain and know how this feels.
My cat went out one night in February and did not come home for her breakfast. Lots of worrying, speaking to neighbours, calling her etc etc and nothing. We let the local cats protection league know but we feared the worst as a busy road is not to far away.
A few weeks passed and i was sat at home when i heard the cat flap go, she screamed at me, then went straight up on the bed and went to sleep like nothing had ever happened, the little t

Guess what i am saying is try not to worry to much yet, mine never strayed far but it didnt stop her having a 2 week holiday somewhere!

Just a quick update on Cassie.
Still no sign of her at all have been checking with the local vets to see if any cats have been brought in but absolutely nothing so far.
We honestly now think she has gone for good and have kind of come to terms with this.
On Saturday we went to a few of the cat and dog rescue centres just to see how we felt about homing another cat and to be honest it kind of helped a bit.We have spoken to someone at our local cat protection league about a wee cat they have and the lady is coming out to see us tomorrow evening.
We are both of the opinion that we feel we should home another wee cat and if Cassie does return she will have a wee friend to torment the life out of her.I hope nobody thinks we are being heartless by looking for another cat so soon but we really miss having one in the house.
Thanks to all who gave kind words of wisdom and ideas to find Cassie it was very much appreciated.
Thought i would include one of the last pics of wee Cassie at her best basking in the sunshine.

Our cat went missing shortly after moving and we didn't get him back for 3 months.
We got him back after a last ditch ad in the local Friday Ad type paper which a local sanctuary saw and called us. They'd had him 3 weeks. Yes, he was chipped, no they hadn't checked it properly. They hadn't taken him to the vet, despite him being in a bad way, who could've checked his chip. The lady who found him called the (village) vet, who didn't suggest checking his chip, or check whether anyone had notified them he was missing, which we had.
So although we're very glad to have him back, it was frustrating thinking we'd done all we could, but others hadn't.
Hopefully your cat will turn up, but you may have to remind people he's missing more than you think.
