Best news yet.
Within the Grove factory there are more than a few people who refer to him as Adam "I know f
k all about F1" Parr.
Hopefully the team's rise up the grid will improve.
I'd love to see a Williams win again.

First Sam Michael, now Parr. Any more deadwood to clear out?
Adam Cooper is tweeting:
Given the timing one could speculate that there may have been some internal strife at Williams re the Concorde Agreement
and
'Tis said on the grapevine that Bernie Ecclestone is not a member of the Adam Parr Fan Club...
Would make sense - Parr/Williams fall out over the Concorde Agreement...

Open question: why would he need to know that much about F1? Williams Grand Prix Holdings is a PLC is it not? When Vodafone had former HSBC man John Bond as chairman, no-one said that he had to know the model and range differences between Nokia and Motorola, did they?
Key thing in a chairman is to make sure the place is organised, P&L looks on track, the Board is fit for purpose and as going concern you are meeting your fiduciary, legal and at least your strategic goals.
Turnover as reported in the annual statement went from £91m to £104m from Dec '10 to Dec '11.
As a _business_ this was where his focus is meant to lay, not on the BS machinations that people like Ecclestone think is necessary to run a grand sport as a merrygoround off the back of Sunseeker.

Perhaps he's sick of reading all the bad press about him, reading about how Williams' demise is all his fault, despite the fact they've been in decline fro twice as long as he's been a part of it, and now that they've finally shown some form he perhaps sees it as an opportunity to jump ship while saving face.
I've never seen anything of him that endeared me to his leadership abilities, but then equally I don't know any facts about how he performs. There just seems to be an endless stream of criticism with very little substance to back it up.
Fingers crossed that Williams' recovery continues unabated.

What may commentators fail to understand on this forum is the politics that exists within F1 and the 'cliques' and bonds that exist between rivals, team owners and their backers. Regardless of your on paper qualifications and your 'business' experience....unless you get what really goes on in F1 you just don't fit in. Yes it is a business but beyond that it is pure politics and all about bonding and getting on with those around the table. Not sure Adam Parr delivered when outside of the office!!
I am equally unsure about how well his replacement will be.......only time will tell. The Williams team are in an OK financial position on paper but their equity position is not as clear and some of their commercial ties are somewhat lightweight.

That's fine. But in repeating that as a chairman of a PLC he's only deeply cognizant of the bottom line....then you're almost inferring (@belleair) that Sir Frank seems to have gone walkies.
When FW made that appointment, do you think for a minute he was wanting to rescind some of his duties and political capital in the process? Nope. He appointed someone to run his company, like any other business, and he could then keep his focus on the other part of the F1 mix - the politics.
Look time will tell as to why he departed, but my point is a clear one. You run a business as a business. And just because you watch pretty cars go round and round, doesn't inveigle you from that.

Parr was charged with far more than just running the business. He is/was the Williams F1 representative to FOTA. If that doesn't directly involve him in the unique politics of F1, I don't know what is.

People say he knows f
k all about F1, but so did flavio when he became team boss of Benetton.
The difference was what Flavio lacked in knowledge of the sport (thought he did pick it up very quickly), he was very good when it came to negotiating deals and when you run an F1 team that's a vital skill.
k all about F1, but so did flavio when he became team boss of Benetton.Plus he did have Bernie to help him along the way.
Williams GP is NOT a PLC, its minority shares are barely traded on a minor european exchange with no voting rights and no dividend!! Frank Williams loves F1, everybody knows this and it helps keep him occupied mentally and emotionally. However the business has moved on since 1997/8 and the involvement of firstly major engine manufacturers and now a new Concorde agreement have hugely altered the political landscape. Williams GP cannot trade on its middle east business involvement nor its past F1 glories.....and the latest revelations show that all is not so well at Grove.
I am sure Adam Parr has helped the whole organisation unravel itself but the F1 side is far from healthy and their commercial backers are not exactly AAA rated. The involvement of Renault (or its subsidiary) may help but the long term direction of he team and its commercial strength is very shaky.

I know it's a pedantic point but Williams GP is a PLC according to Companies House.
Quite right:Williams Grand Prix Holdings PLC
The Company was formed on 21 December 2010 and on 7 February 2011 the Company became the parent of the Group as part of a group reorganisation. On 2 March 2011, the Company was admitted to the Open Market (Entry Standard segment) of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange following a public offering of 21% of its existing ordinary shares.
