So, Saturday morning I take the car for a lovely 50 mile round trip in the Hampshire countryside with the Mrs.

Nearly home and dreading an afternoon indoors decorating, the Mrs announces "I'm off to play with the horses for the afternoon, it's way too nice for decorating. You might as well enjoy the afternoon with the car, we can decorate another day." Well, I'm pretty much bursting with joy - not only can the decorating be put off but I've been given a free pass for the whole afternoon to go out, enjoy the weather, drive more cracking country roads, some motor sport viewing at Goodwood and a pub lunch with a mate - perfect!

I get to the petrol station, fill up, pay and get back in the car happy as Larry. Excited about the coming few hours, I start her up, apply seatbelt, put her in gear.... and then it happened. Disaster struck. The handbrake button pinged out of the handbrake handle and the rod slid down inside. The handbrake was stuck on with no way of releasing it... I looked a right plonker as the guy in the Boxster next to me smirked smugly and drove off, leaving me red faced as my blood boiled.

After getting it home and trying an unsuccessful quick fix, I asked the guys at Fernhurst have a look. Unfortunately the service chaps had gone home so the only option was to leave it there, have a cup of tea and wait for a lift home. (Thanks to Simon and Drew for looking after me!)

Still, the Mrs was pleased to find the decorating done when she finally got home = brownie points. Every cloud...

Bad luck but I think you did the right thing with the decorating.
Valuable points earned.

Ha ha, yes thay could have done but I used to work there and considering I left soon after a vehicle related 'incident' involving a Tuscan and a wall, I didn't see any value in even asking!

They were really good to me actually, very caring and sympathetic - and they did try to fix it there and then which was good considering there were customers walking around on the forecourt.
