I was just sat there minding my own business on pistonheads and a wasp started hovering above my head, it stayed there so i moved and it kept diving past me and flying away, within 5 seconds it was back hovering in the same spot for (im not exagerating) 30 minutes and its likely still there now, i had to come inside because i couldent sit still with it buzzing around my head, why was it doing that?

They're really very friendly. Give it a stroke.

This happened when I was over in the USA... a hornet or hover wasp or SOMETHING decided to trap us in the cabin we were staying in.. by hovering outside the door.. It was there long enough for me to get a photo !

I'm guessing it was a Bombyliid fly and not a wasp at all. biggrin
