SLR & Zoom Lens Bag Advice

Basically shopping around a bit for an SLR bag, preferably a slingshot as the camera will be in and out a lot when I'm around racing circuits. I've been lookin at the Lowepro 202AW but I'm not 100% whether it will fit a 1000D(and later on a 60D) body with a 100-300 zoom lens attached. I'd order this off amazon so haven't been able to try it out.
Advice is appreciated. Budget is around £50.

I have a Slingshot 200, the older, but I believe same-sized bag - and until recently had a Fastpack 350.
The 200 series will, for me, take a Nikon "pro-sized" body with 105mm attached (this includes the lens hood backed on) but would not take a 70-200mm. The 350 would take body with 70-200mm attached (and again with its hood backed on).
If you post up the overall length of camera-plus-lens and the front ø I can compare it......
In any event, it depends to some extent on what else you stuff in the other pockets, how snugly you want it to fit (although the body with integral grip is a surprisingly nice fit itself, it's just the lens question in a 200) and whether you want to go bigger (to take account of kit-growth, but at the risk that you end up, like I have with the late-350, with an overweight backpack for regular use!) than necessary.

www.cambags.com is your friend, find the bag you are interested in and it'll have pics of it full of kit, making it easier to gauge size.
Thanks for the speedy replies. The length of the camera with lens is currently 195MM. But if i go upto the canon 60D which i plan to do at the end of the year this will add another 17MM. The specification says the internal width is 225MM. Just didn't want to push my luck. Makes me think for the extra £4 or so to go for the 302AW. But then i don't want to have a bag that's too big. The most i'll currently carry would be the camera body, 100-300MM, 18-55MM and a 28MM prime. I won't have the 100-300MM in the bag that often but when i do i will want it on the camera whilst in the bag.

OK, just checked - the combination I have (105mm on a "pro-sized" Nikon) combines to a practical 200mm in length and a practical lens/reversed hood end-diameter of 90mm. Overall, that makes for a snuggish fit, although there is still room for a few (10-15) mm more in the AW200.
Why don't you double-check the returns policy before your mail order purchase? If you can return it if you're not satisfied, you have nothing to lose!

Problem is I can't get to a post office. There is no longer one in my village so the closest is 7 miles away. Also working hours do not help so i would have to waste a day off to sort it. So i'd rather have it sorted first time.
From what you say I think it would be a close call on fitment when I upgrade to a new body. It would be 225MM with the 60D and that's the exact width.

Not too sure if they've got anything in your area but Amazon have started using Collect Plus - instead of posting items back there are collection points in convenience stores/petrol stations etc. You just package it up along with the returns paperwork and drop it in. I've only used it once but it was a painless process.

Not heard of it around here yet. The stupid thing is there's an amazon warehouse the next unit on from where i work. But they apparently deliver to Edinburgh and London. Don't quite understand the sense in that.

I've started to look into the fastback range. Just want something where i can access the camera without taking the bag off. I like the idea of spinning the bag around to the front so i can take the camera out of the side compartment with my zoom lens already attached.
