M3 to sell - advice on tyres
Discussion
I have a few dilemma's please. I currently have an 03 M3 couple and will be looking to sell it in the near future (next couple of months). It is top notch with all extras (incl 19" tyres) with only 44k miles.
I bought this as an approved used car from BMW when they were supplied with Michelin Pilot Sport tyres (the original ones not PS2's). Since then, one front tyre had a puncture and i replaced with a new PS tyre. I have done 4-5k miles since then and now the the other front tyre is damaged (bulging).
1. I was wondering if anyone knows where to buy used tyres so I can match the two front ones. I live in central london. Failing that should i replace it with a new one?
2. The rear tyres are getting pretty worn. Given the value of the car (not sure but c.£11-12k), I dont think i will get the money back for putting two new rear tyres (or do you think otherwise)?
Also is the advice to have Michelin PS all around or would it be OK to put say Conti/Kumho at the rear. I am thinking two things here: (a) the tyres are not consistent with the front in terms of brand and (b) PS are outdated and replaced by PS2
Very grateful for your thoughts please

Whatever you do don't just put cheap budget tyres on it so you can advertise it as having "good tyres". It's such a waste when that happens and the first thing the new owner does is bin them and put something better on. Better off for you (less hassle) and the buyer (less cost) just to leave the OE tyres on even if they need replacing and knock a few hundred quid off your asking price as a bargaining point.
For top money I would put 4 new contis or MPS all round, also with 44k on the clock its recently had the inspection II, then its ready to be sold in top condition with no expense spared.
Having nearly new tyres is great for a buyer and also knowing the next service is only oil service

How worn are your rears ?
I have just put SS on my rear winter rims and have some PS2's still above the wear limit sitting in my garage if you want them cheaply. They're easily legal and would at least match.
Would never mix brands. As Billy says, change all round or don't bother.
Am in central LN -pm me if interested.

I think if someone is searching for a low miler M, it is chances are, to be their cherished motor they plan to spend some money on. If it were me buying I would want the best mechanical car I could find and tyres are less relevant. Why spend the dosh if someone is going to replace them anyway?
