I havent even seen an air fix model for probably 10 years, but clearing through a built into the wall style cupboad that goes about 10 feet to one side like a tunnel I found a boxed "Airfix Premier Collection Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress"! I have no idea where it came from but Im guessing it was a gift at some point from somebody years ago. It all seems to be there, only problem is that the glue has dried out. Got more from an old 40k kit (which I found today in the attic) so no worries.

Unfortunatly Im decorating atm so cant jump in! If I can find the rest of my old 40k stuff I may attempt to make a warhammer style Flying Fortress, but probably will build it as standard.

Did airfix go out of business a while ago? Shame if they did, Im more interested in this model than I have been in any computer game for the last 10 years.

Cheers!

They did, but instantly got bought up/out by Hornby, who then did a lot of re-issuing, new models, new moulds etc. Very much alive and well and making models.

Glad to hear it! Ive got a feeling I might be building a couple more after this one. I fancy building a ship next I think.

I wish I could paint the models better, some of them look amazing especially some of the Games Workshop ones people make and mount. When I was a good bit younger my dad bought me a 40k box set and not one of them turned out decent.

Cheers!

Alive and kicking -

http://www.airfix.com/

The Airfix B-17G is a rather ancient kit and has been surpassed by others in the intervening 50 years since it first appeared.

I'd leave it where it is and go out and buy the new Revell one. Failing that, the Hasegawa (expensive) or Academy B-17s are all better.
