A few mates were planning on doing a road trip to milan via the alps in a minibus or a motorhome

would crossing the alps be suitable and if so anyone recommend a route?

no problem at all.
if your sticking to the motorway routes i know you'll be fine, if i'm in the truck i go via frejus or mont blanc tunnels. the motorway drive upto and through mont blanc is very nice.

And what if we headed off the motorways and to the more traditional scenic routes?

Alpine passes are crawling with Belgian registered Hymer motorhomes, so it can't be that difficult... irked

ha,ha, not sure, as although my ttnav often wants to send me via the more scenic routes, at 50ft long in the truck i tend to ignore it and stick to what i know.

Ive seen plenty of motorhomes over Stelvio and the Alps so you should be fine smile

Just need to be careful on the tight hairpins as some people will keep on driving at you, even if you are taking up most of the road! smile
