BRZ/GT86 - The group test candidates?

So, in anticipation of the inevitable group test, who are the likely adverseries?
I reckon it's nearest competitor has to be the MX5 2.0 Sport Tech/Sport Black (both BRZ & MX5 are RWD, both have a slippy diff, both are under £25k). Equally, it could also be compared to the Lotus Elise S3 1.6, the 370Z, and perhaps a base spec Cayman?
The Megane 265 Cup seems to be it's nearest FWD rival.
Any other thoughts?

In addition to these I think the magazines may include a Scirocco (2.0t 211) and perhaps a 1 Series coupe (125i has 215bhp) to cover off the mainstream German offerings.

Yes, I think that's a good one, rwd, similar performance but a fair bit heavier and probably less 'nimble'. Similar price too

Evo decided on the MX5, 370Z and Megane against the Subaru BRZ

Autocar have done the MX5 and 370z against the BRZ. The BRZ won.

Interesting read, the GT86/BRZ was already top of my list to replace my MX5 next year, so it is good to see them compared.

Interesting group test in CAR this month (BRZ, 370Z, Megane 265 & Cayman). The Megane takes the win.......

Seems cruel they gave them an autobox one with the luxuries to weigh it down as well though.

You'd think they might have sorted a manual 'light-spec' one for EVO mag to show it off in best light
