He's quite right. No one in their right mind would issue a guarantee of spectator safety anywhere, whether it's BIC, Silverstone, Monaco or any other circuit. Of course, it does look like BIC is a bit more of a risky proposition than Silverstone right now...

Isnt the topic title misleading? The article says the risk is no greater than attending Silverstone. The topic title makes it sound as if it is unsafe to go

It's brought nothing good to F1, who wants boring races and the political crap that comes with racing there? F1 in the last couple of years is just starting to get a good name again, going here and by doing so giving the impression that the sport isn't against what's been going on over there won't do it any favours. For once Bernie needs to think about more than just the money.

Especially because CVC is looking at either restructuring the loan they used to buy F1 or a possible stock market float or both. Income and revenue is king for all options. Not to mention those pesky teams and their concord agreement who might want some more of the income that wouldn't exist without them.

If Bernie or CVC cancel the race they owe Bahrain money. If Bahrain cancels the race then they pay penalty fees.

If the worst comes to the worst bernie and the Bahraini giovernment will coem to an agreement where Bernie gets a small sum although considerably less than the full fees and the Bahraini Govt 'postpone' the race. That way bernie can say 'they postponed the race, not me' and all his support for the race won't be seen as hypocrisy.

Think if you owned a company that sponsored F1 but where Bahrain wasn't an important market......

Then think of all the huge publicity you'd get if you pulled your sponsorship for that event

Mainly the expat community turn up at the track and I cannot see many protestors buying tickets. The circuit is dull, the location somewhat un inspiring and I doubt that is is any more dangerous than Monza, Brazil or the Russian GP!
