I own a 1996 lhd chim 500. The engine makes a high whistling sound. I think it is the air intake tube? Does anybody know this problem?

Probably the air byepass screw on the plenum for the base idle. Try turning it slightly one way or another and it will probably go.

I had exactly the same issue with my Griff..... I thought it was the gear box at first. Simon at Leven diagnosed it as an air filter whistle and that it was nothing to worry about. Apparently his own Griff did this as well sometimes,

Interestingly enough since the air filter was changed at the last service it doesn't do this anymore.

I think that long trunking from the TB just acts as an ampifier/megaphone shout
