stupid question...

Ok apologies but do oz spoke wheel centres push in from the front or back..not had em in since the wheel refurb and don't want to break these ultra rare items..

help..

oh that's good then as couldn't see them going I from outside and didn't want to remove a wheel just to check.. They need a lick of paint so will do this first.

You might want to think about "dressing" the inside of the hole. If there's a thick coat of lacquer in there the centres will be very tight and might even risk cracking the lacquer on the outer edge of the hole.

please tell me more.. Do you reckomend a light sanding or some form of lube.. The wheels have been powder coated so I imagine the hole will be smaller so was thinking of sanding the centre? I'm talking myself out of this now may visit the wheel place to have centres painted and fitted as I have to have some rocker covers done too.

All my wheels were corroded around the holes because the lacquer had cracked and water had got in. The plastic centres were so tight they had to be hammered out. So my theory was that if the fit was too tight, forcing the plastic centres in might have cracked the lacquer and I didn’t want that to happen again. Before I sent mine off to be re-furbed I used a flap wheel to carefully remove all the old lacquer and a tiny bit of the metal so that the plastic centres popped in and out with just thumb pressure. Then I told the wheel company not to paint the inside of the hole, just lacquer it. The plan worked and the plastic centres are still an easy pop in and pop out fit and there is no contact between the plastic centre and the surface of the lacquer around the lip of the hole. What you might want to do depends on what stage you’re at. If you’ve already had the wheels re-furbed the only option you have is to very carefully sand down the lacquer/paint on the inside surface of the hole and use some grease.

The centres are held in by spring clips in a groove further down in the hole - so even if you took a bit off the outside of the centres so they were a loose fit at the wheel surface they would still stay in position.

No spring clips on mine but as the hole is tapered from inside to out the centre caps can't go anywhere.

Me too.. Where do we go for the tvr logos.? Seen some plastic ones on ebay but not quite the right size..

Some of the ones on ebay are quite close, with approximately 46mm diameter being required. AS for the centre caps they are quite rare but do appear on ebay every so often. The part number is OZ M075. A set of 4 is currently on ebay but are just slightly out of my price range for a piece of plastic but they do appear every so often for quite a bit less. My plan is to drill a hole in the back to push out the old centre badge, fill the space with a plastic filler then place the new sticker badge on top. I sourced a couple of spares to try this on first instead of ruining the originals!
