I need your guys opinion on this before I go back to chat to the workshop...

I had a stainless rear silencer made for my Leon Cupra R yesterday, which I asked for to be made to sound similar to OEM but with a bit more tone. This was from a small outfit in North London who have had good reviews on forums...

I picked it up last night and took it home and, well, its a bit loud! My housemate commented that 'its a bit barry...'

I dont know if I can live with this, but what options do i have with regards to going back to the garage? should I ring them and have a chat about quieting it down? Is it even possible without having to start again?

Cheers for the opinions and inevitable p*sstaking smile

Just call them and tell them that its a bit louder than you really wanted, they'll go one of two ways:

1. Tell you its tough and they'll do nothing

2. Be reasonable and work something out that keeps you both happy

You won't know until you speak to them

I thought these kind of people will change it for you if it's not what you wanted?

Had the back boxes changed on my car and found them just too loud - drove it for a few days in lots of different circumstances to make sure!

Spoke to the garage, they popped in a mid-silencer at a very good price and it's perfect now smile

drop a mid pipe silencer in.

( I may too of over barry'd on the duallies on my MX5 in the past paperbag)
Its already got the standard mid-silencer on it, so cat > small silencer > new stainless rear silencer.

Cheers for the advice all, i think I'll have a chat with the garage today, but drive it for an hour or two tonight to see how it is.

The work seems to be of a high standard, its just flipping loud! and with a red Cupra, I dont want to look like a chav smile

it will quieten down after a few thousand miles...and probably isn't as loud as you think, just compared to the old stock system.

I thought my 5 was loud, then I heard a couple of modified silvias next to me in traffic the other day...

Just thought I'd let you guys know that I gave the exhaust a chance to grow on me but decided it was still a bit loud, so I spoke to the garage and they just asked me to bring it back to them to have a look at.

Picked it up last night and they've modified it so its a lot quieter now!

They've done a great job and the customer service was excellent. Now that its not a name and shame thread, I'll say the place was EMP Performance in St Albans.

I had a similar issue with a pipe made for me by MIJ Performance in Walsall for my old SLK.
It was a bit outrageous, but I gave them a call and they were no problem whatsover. Took the car back down and they added an extra box in the middle and it was 100% how I wanted it to sound.
