Apologies if this is in the wrong section - there are so many but none seemed correct! There's a technical sub-forum but no 'electrical' sub-forum of that!

Anywho...

I'm plumbing the OEM trip computer into my MK1 Ford Focus (yawn) unfortunately the loom is not present for it so with the aid of a wiring diagram I will have to do it myself.

Maplins will kindly sell me a length of coloured wire for about £3.50 but I need around 10 different colours, so this will be expensive. Where is the best place to buy a 'kit' of say 5m lengths of each colour? I have looked on eBay but all I get is pages and pages of buy it now auctions for irrelevant crap.

When I built my rally car I used Vehicle Wiring Products, great service and fast delivery. Can't fault any of the stuff they sent.

Do ford not sell that part of the loom as a spare? . . . I know that this can be the case with certain VAG and FIAT group products

VWP look like a good bet - I can even get the correct colours to match the loom plugs.

I managed to obtain the correct plugs plus about 6" of loom for each of the components. I don't believe the loom would ever be seperately available as some of it goes into the main ECU, some into the airbag ECU even - all hidden away behind the dash. The outside temp sensor is also located on the front slam-panel, so I have to find a route from dashboard through bulkhead.

But hey, all in the name of fun. Finding it hard to find things to do with the car to be honest, first 'normal' car I've had and it was bought for practicality not fun. I did manage to convince everyone that a 3-door was still practical though!
