Samsung SMT-S7800 Freesat+ HD recorder problems..

Hi guys,

I bought a Samsung SMT-S7800 Freesat+ HD Digital TV recorder in December last year and now having problems with it suddenly. I got it from Best Buy for a good price (as you may know all these stores closed down so i got it in the closing down sale). It was working fine up until this week and then suddenly it wont boot up properly, it comes on, picture is all fine and says that HDD drive is not ready yet then suddenly it freezes and then the pictures goes, it then just keeps repeating this process.

I have contacted Best Buy who have said that i need to deal with Samsung under the year warranty to get it repaired but just thought i would ask if anyone else has had this problem with this model and if so what was the end result when you got it sorted? I know i will need to go through the warranty process but just like to know a bit more info just in case they try to fob me off with some guff!

Have you checked the software? It may have got corrupted.

Hard drive full?

Borrow and old sky box and just check the dish is ok before phoning, it sounds unlikely to be the dish but at least they cant fob you off with that.

Hard drive is definitely not full as i havent got close to filling it yet.

The software is the only thing that i can think it is.

My step dad runs his main tv off the same dish and his system is working just fine so i know the dish is not the problem but it is the actual samsung box that is the problem. As long as i dont turn it off it works but it wont start back up if i do turn it off...very annoying.
