+1 so also ask your favourite OPC whether they have a Warranty approved option that they can fit themselves.

Great idea, I'll try that option first. My current Cayman has got the park assist and it's a god send. The new one hasn't (an oversight on my part)and i'm more than a bit worried about me forgetting and backing into something

Reversing can be trickier in London than driving at 170+ mph.

I often think this to myself it's not the reversing that's the problem per se, it's the fact that the visibility in the car isn't the best!

I am in the same situation and apparently the wiring loom section does not exist if park assist was not ordered originally. Hence, the cost of replacing the loom to fit park assist becomes financially non-viable.

What I have done for the moment, is to fit one of the learner driver training g aids in the back window (the Fresnel lens thingy) so that I can get a better view of the back, especially when parallel parking.

The same financial constraints apply to retro-fitting climate control and CD-multichanger (to Cayman Gen2).

It all seems very short sighted by Porsche that they don't think that second owners may wish to add original Porsche functionality.

You asked so I wil answer. I have never had a reversing incident. The last accident I had was circa 2000 when a motorbike tried to overtake me on the inside at a junction and hit me. Luckily, he was uninjured.

Since then I have done approx (gets calculator out) 250,000 miles.

I would like to think that its because I take enjoyment, pride and care in my driving but there will be a lot of luck in there too of course.

I agree that you cant control the actions of others, but it doesn't mean that it is out of your control.

I see idiots everday, and I am sure that you do. I make allowances, leaving space and time between us and try to take every care possible, whilst making 'good progress'.

Oh, and I didn't say I was a great driver.

My mate had Park assist retro-fitted by Porsche Wilmslow to a Gen 2 997 GT3 so it can be done without affecting the warranty.

I can imagine that retrifitting anything would be expensive, and there would be a multitde of options that would be both cheaper and better than a manufacturer built system.
Rear parking sensors could probably be fitted by an aftermarket installer would be in the region of £150, about the same as an hours labour at OPC.
Climate would probably be fairly straight forward, but would need temperature sensors and a display unit. How much would a display from OPC cost? £800+ install. Can't imagine many people opting to pay over a grand to retrofit climate.

Resurrecting old thread - anyone used and recommend this outfit?
